AICPA Engage 2024 Highlights
More than 5,000 tax, accounting, and financial professionals attended AICPA Engage 2024 in person and virtually. The event, held June 2–6 at the Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, is the largest annual educational, technology, and networking gathering for the profession.
Accounting Thought Leader Think Tank
On June 2, CPA Practice Advisor hosted the Accounting Thought Leader Think Tank, which brought together more than two dozen industry influencers for discussions, product demonstrations, and round-table work on current profession and practice issues.
Trade Show Floor
From June 3 to 5, hundreds of vendors exhibited productivity, tax, and practice-management solutions. Editorial coverage from CPA Practice Advisor highlighted several technologies notable for firm productivity and profitability impact:
- Business tax automation — Avalara. Automates tax calculation and regulatory compliance.
- Integration solutions — Thomson Reuters. Integrated accounting and tax workflows.
- Small-firm tax tech — Wolters Kluwer. Streamlined tax preparation aimed at smaller firms.
- Client collaboration — ShareFile. Secure file sharing and client communication.
- Outsourced accounting — KnowCraft. Delegated accounting services letting firms refocus on core advisory work.
Implications
The mix of themes at Engage — automation, integration, client collaboration, and outsourcing — reflects where most profitable firm-level improvements sit today. Firms that have not yet consolidated on integrated stacks or evaluated outsourced production capacity are giving up tangible efficiency relative to competitors who have. Firm leaders should treat the Engage floor as a practical market signal of where invested technology dollars are going.
